9 Best Tools to Monitor Keyword Rankings

9 tools to monitor keyword rankings, prices checked September 2026

Are you trying to find the best tool to monitor your keyword rankings and measure your SEO efforts?

By measuring your keyword ranking performance over time, you can identify which of your online content is performing well and what users are searching for to find you.

This lets you focus more time on what's working and less on what isn't.

Rankings move every week. Without a record of where each keyword stood last month, a drop is invisible until a client notices the traffic dip, and by then the month is gone.

So what's the best way to accurately monitor your keyword rankings?

For that, you'll need a rank tracking tool, and a way to get the numbers in front of the people who need to see them.

Here are 9 tools that monitor keyword rankings. Every price below was checked against the vendor's own pricing page on 4 September 2026. One vendor's pricing page would not load for us that day; we say so rather than guess.

One of the nine is our own product, and it is not a rank tracker. Its entry says what it does and does not do.

If the tracker is settled and the chore left is getting the rankings in front of a client every month, that is the part to stop doing by hand.

Ready to streamline your reporting?

MetricsWatch pulls GA, Search Console, Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Mailchimp into one white-label report, delivered on your schedule. Starts at $49/month. 14-day free trial, no credit card required.

9 Best Tools to Monitor Keyword Rankings

1) Metrics Watch (the reporting layer)

Metrics Watch does not crawl search results. It is the reporting layer: connect Google Search Console and it pulls your real queries, positions, clicks and impressions into a report that lands in the recipient's inbox on the schedule you set, daily, weekly or monthly.

The report is displayed in the body of the email itself, so nobody downloads a PDF or logs into a dashboard to see it.

It pairs with any tracker on this list: the tracker for keyword research and competitor positions, Metrics Watch for the monthly report the client actually opens. Pre-made templates get a first report out quickly, and a drag-and-drop builder handles the rest.

Metrics Watch also pulls data from your other marketing channels into the same report:

  • Google Analytics 4
  • Google Search Console
  • Google Ads
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Mailchimp

All plans include white-label options, so the report carries your agency's branding.

What it does not do

There is no standalone SERP tracker. You will not add arbitrary keywords and watch competitors' domains for them. The rankings it reports are the ones Google Search Console records for your own site.

Pricing

Plans are $49 per month for 2 reports, $149 for 25 and $399 for 100, with white-label included on every plan and annual billing at ten times the monthly price. The 14-day trial needs no credit card. Checked on the Metrics Watch pricing page, 4 September 2026.

2) Semrush

One of the leading SEO tools (and with good reason), Semrush offers a large suite of tools and reports to tackle a range of digital marketing challenges, including rank tracking, keyword research, on-page SEO, competitor analysis, content marketing and link building.

Semrush makes tracking keyword rankings from multiple domains easy with their Projects feature: dashboards that can be shared with clients to view their data in their web browser at any time.

Our favorite feature is the ability to see the monthly search volume and difficulty rating for a keyword and measure it against your current keyword position. This makes targeting the right keywords easier, and it flags the moment to update content when a rank starts slipping.

Pros

  • Offers a wide range of SEO tools
  • Ability to perform on-page SEO audits easily
  • Powerful keyword research and competitor analysis tools

Cons

The vast range of tools is both a blessing and a curse. New users may find the number of options overwhelming, and the learning curve can be steep for some tools.

Pricing

The SEO plan is $139 per month ($117.33 per month billed annually). The plans that add AI Search are Starter at $199, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549 per month. Semrush offers a 7-day free trial on the SEO, Starter and Pro+ plans. Checked on the Semrush pricing page, 4 September 2026.

3) Google Search Console

An awesome tool for those on a budget or just starting out: Google Search Console is free to use. It lets you track keyword rankings, identify your highest-traffic pages, measure click-through rates, and see which search queries users are typing into Google to find you.

Pros

  • Connects with other Google tools, like Google Analytics
  • Identifies technical issues on your website which could be hindering your SEO efforts
  • It's free

Cons

While great for beginners and those on a tight budget, Google Search Console is a basic SEO tool. It only reports on your own site, so there is no competitor tracking or keyword research. If SEO is at the core of your strategy, you'll benefit from pairing it with one of the other tools on this list.

Pricing

Free.

4) Ahrefs

Another popular all-in-one SEO suite, Ahrefs offers core cloud-based tools including Site Audit, Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Content Explorer and Rank Tracker.

The Site Explorer tool allows you to analyze competitors' organic and paid results, so you can learn how they accomplished their goals and reverse engineer their strategy. Then you can track your efforts with the Rank Tracker.

Data is displayed via dashboards, which team members and clients can be given access to view in a web browser.

Pros

  • Variety of SEO tools plus free learning materials
  • Filters and tags let you dive deep into your ranking data
  • Reverse engineer a competitor's strategy

Cons

While it's a powerful tool, the price climbs quickly once an agency needs more users or projects, because extra users and extra projects are priced as add-ons on top of the plan.

Pricing

Starter is $29 per month. Lite is $129, Standard $249, Advanced $449 and Enterprise $1,499 per month, the last with an annual commitment. Checked on the Ahrefs pricing page, 4 September 2026.

5) AccuRanker

Advertising itself as the world's fastest and most accurate keyword rank tracker, AccuRanker hosts a variety of features for SEO optimization, most notably the ability to refresh keyword rankings on demand for the most up-to-date data.

The Organic Site Explorer feature provides a visual overview of how your site's keywords are indexed and shows your current competitors, changing as your content changes.

Pros

  • Various integrations to connect and share data across platforms
  • Historical insights help you target the right SERP elements
  • Filters and tagging features for advanced data segmentation
  • Unlimited users and domains

Cons

The cost of paid plans is dictated by the number of keywords you need to track. While not likely to be an issue for larger organizations, smaller ones may find the price increase to be too much as their SEO strategy scales.

Pricing

Professional is $224 per month for 2,000 keywords and Expert is $764 per month for 10,000, with larger keyword tiers on each plan and custom pricing above 25,000. Checked on the AccuRanker pricing page, 4 September 2026.

6) Moz Pro

Offering a variety of free and premium cloud-based SEO tools, Moz Pro aims to help enterprises and SEO teams make their marketing smarter through rank tracking, site audits and more.

You can also create custom reports and schedule them to be sent automatically to your team or clients.

Moz also offers a range of free tools, including the MozBar extension for Google Chrome, which lets you see metrics of sites you visit to help scope out your competition.

Pros

  • Variety of SEO tools on one platform
  • Free MozBar tool
  • Provides useful recommendations for fixing on-site crawlability issues
  • Free SEO education resources

Cons

Moz Pro is aimed more toward larger teams. As a result, pricing can become expensive as tracked sites and keywords grow, so it may not suit smaller agencies. Customization options are also quite limited for SEO reports.

Pricing

Standard is $99 per month ($79 billed annually) with 3 tracked sites, Medium $179 ($143) with 10, and Large $299 ($239) with 25. An entry plan for a single site is $49 per month. Checked on the Moz Pro pricing page, 4 September 2026.

7) Serpstat

Serpstat is a growth hacking tool for maximizing your content marketing, SEO and PPC efforts.

Global and local SERP tracking let you monitor your site's mobile and desktop keyword positions. SEO audit tools also let you find errors on your site and get recommendations on how to fix them to boost visibility on Google.

Data from Serpstat can be exported and shared with colleagues and clients.

Pros

  • Multiple SEO tools on one platform
  • Well designed user interface
  • Keyword databases for many countries

Cons

Its keyword database does not seem to be as big as Ahrefs or Semrush, but Serpstat is constantly improving its tool, which could make it a good option for newer agencies.

Pricing

We are not quoting a price. Serpstat's pricing page returned a 404 when we checked on 4 September 2026, so please confirm current plans on the vendor's site.

8) SE Ranking

SE Ranking is a robust SEO platform for SEO specialists working for agencies or within in-house teams. It offers many pro tools to track keyword rankings, run website audits, research keywords and competitors, check and monitor backlinks, and create detailed reports.

Its Keyword Rank Tracker presents position data in customizable dashboards. Tracking starts from the moment you add the client's website to the project, and the data updates daily. SE Ranking says its rankings are unaffected by personalization factors.

Along with ranking data, you'll see essential SEO metrics such as search volume, traffic forecast, content score and ranking dynamics. A historical data feature shows how keyword positions change over time. You can export data, build ranking reports and send them to clients automatically, or share access to the platform under your agency's brand.

Pros

  • Comprehensive SEO toolkit
  • Daily rank tracking
  • Dashboard and tool customization features
  • Convenient keyword filtering, sorting, grouping and tagging
  • Automated reporting

Cons

The platform is pro-oriented, so learning to use the advanced tools may take some time. SE Ranking has educational materials, onboarding tips within the platform and good customer support.

Pricing

Core is $129 per month ($103.20 billed annually) for 10 projects and 2,000 tracked keywords. Growth is $279 ($223.20) for 30 projects and 5,000 keywords. Enterprise is custom. A 14-day free trial is available. Checked on the SE Ranking subscription page, 4 September 2026.

9) HubSpot

HubSpot's SEO Marketing Software includes a broad set of easy-to-use tools designed to help boost your website's rankings. The platform's analytics give you a detailed overview of your website's performance, from its average position in organic search results to the total impressions or click-throughs of each page.

HubSpot also helps you identify which content topics bring you the best results. You can categorize your web pages by topic and then track each topic's number of sessions, average session length, impressions and more. It also lets you zoom in on the details and track both your pillar and supporting pages' performance.

We also like the SEO Recommendations feature. HubSpot tracks your site's performance and notifies you whenever you need to work on your meta descriptions, images, loading speeds and so on, with no need to look through endless amounts of data.

Pros

  • Access to numerous other marketing features, like ad and email campaign management tools
  • Perform website audits to identify where there is room for improvement
  • Integrates with HubSpot CMS and Google Search Console
  • Easy to use

Cons

HubSpot's SEO software is part of the platform's Marketing Hub. The jump from Starter to Professional is large, and the Professional and Enterprise tiers carry onboarding fees, which can make scaling expensive.

Pricing

Marketing Hub has a free tier for up to 2 users. Starter is $20 per month per seat at the regular price (a lower introductory rate was shown when we checked). Professional is $890 per month including 3 core seats, and Enterprise $3,600 per month including 5. Checked on the HubSpot Marketing Hub pricing page, 4 September 2026.

Keyword Rank Tracking: Dashboards vs. Reports

Most of the tools on this list offer similar features, so don't worry if you're still not sure which tool is right for you.

One key difference that may help you decide is how your keyword ranking data can be shared with a client or your team.

Some of these tools let you create password-protected, cloud-based dashboards. You then invite users to log in and view their data by sharing a private URL.

Others let you email reports directly to clients, usually as a PDF attachment or a link back to the dashboard.

Each organization has its own needs that may make dashboards or reports the best option for them. So when would you want to pick one over the other?

Dashboards typically let users view real-time data, which can be valuable for any business needing up-to-the-minute information to inform their decisions.

The downside is that users need to remember to log in to the platform every time they want to see their data. Busy schedules mean that this task often gets ignored and valuable data goes to waste.

The other option is to send your keyword ranking reports by email, direct to the recipient.

The catch is that an emailed report usually arrives as a PDF attachment that has to be downloaded before viewing, adding another layer of friction to the reporting process.

So, what's the best solution?

We believe that the goal of reporting is to deliver data as easily as possible so that marketers can make data-driven decisions to inform their marketing strategy and, ultimately, achieve their business goals.

That's why with Metrics Watch, you can skip the PDFs and the dashboard logins and instead send your keyword ranking reports directly to your recipient's inbox, inside the body of the email itself.

This allows your team and clients to view their data on any device, at any time, using a method they already use in business every day: email.

Before the monthly report: know the day something breaks

One more thing a rank tracker will not do for you: tell you the day something breaks. A ranking or traffic drop usually shows up in next month's report, long after the client noticed. Metrics Watch Alerts monitors a GA4 property every 10 to 15 minutes and sends an email or Slack alert when sessions, conversions or organic traffic move past a threshold you set, so the report becomes a summary of a month you already knew about. It starts at $79 per month and the trial needs no credit card.

And that's it! We hope you've found this list of the 9 best tools to monitor keyword rankings useful. If you enjoyed this article then be sure to check out these other resources:
